Rincon de la Vieja is one of the most beautiful national parks in Costa Rica and is definitely worth a visit if you’re staying in Tamarindo.
The easiest way to get to Rincon de la Vieja from Tamarindo is to join one of the many tours leaving from Tamarindo. These tours include transportation to and from the park, activities like rafting, zip-lining, mud baths, and many of them even include a buffet style lunch.
If you’re looking to go on your own from Tamarindo to Rincon de la Vieja in a rental car, the trip only takes about 90 minutes.

Public bus from Tamarindo to Rincon de la Vieja
Unfortunately there is no direct public bus service from Tamarindo to Rincon de la Vieja. You can take a public bus from Tamarindo to Liberia, but a taxi ride from Liberia to places within the park will most likely run between $40-$80 dollars. If you have a tour booked with one of the companies they’ll most likely pick you up in Liberia for free or a nominal fee.
