A recent survey from Expat Insider put expats living in Costa Rica at the top of the list when it comes to personal happiness.
Costa Rica also came in 5th place when it comes to overall quality of life. Only Spain, Japan, Austria, and Taiwan beat out Costa Rica in the overall quality of life category.
It makes sense that Costa Rican expats are the happiest in the world.

Costa Rica also ranked 2nd for climate and weather, 2nd in ease of settling in.
For work life balance Costa Rica ranked 10th.
