And that’s the point of this article. While you may find unbelievably cheap rental car prices when booking online for Costa Rican car rentals, keep in mind the fine print.
By Costa Rican law you are required to buy the mandatory minimum coverage which usually comes to about $23 per day for a compact car, and $28 a day for an SUV.
So that $2.28 a day car you booked online is more like $25.28 a day.
A good deal, but don’t be surprised when you get to the rental counter and your unbelievable deal is slightly more expensive than what you thought.
Save yourself the surprise and add about $25/day to any Costa Rican car rental price you see quoted online.
