Traveling to a foreign country for the first time can seem like an incredible leap of faith into the unknown. Fortunately Costa Rica is an easy place to visit, and if you’ve never been outside of the states or Canada, Costa Rica is a great destination for beginner travelers. Here are the 8 reasons why Costa Rica is a great destination for beginner travelers.
1. Outlets
Outlets in Costa Rica are American style, so no need to buy expensive and confusing adapters. Just plug in your electronics like you do at home!
2. U.S. Dollars
U.S. Dollars are widely accepted in Costa Rica. You could pay with dollars for the entirety of your vacation if you wanted to.
3. No shots
Costa Rica doesn’t require any shots like some other countries require when visiting. Good for those of us who aren’t fans of needles!
4. No visa requirements
There’s no costly visa to enjoy Costa Rica. Just a valid passport.
5. English
Almost everyone here in Costa Rica speaks English. It’s rare to find Costa Ricans who work in the tourism industry that don’t have a high level of English fluency.
6. Same time zone
No need to worry about getting jet lag during your vacation to Costa Rica. Costa Rica is in the Central Standard time zone. Keep in mind that Costa Rica does not observe daylight savings time.
7. You can drink the water
This makes vacationing here a breeze. The tap water will not make you sick.
8. No layover in a foreign country
There are so many direct flights now from the United States and Canada (even Paris, France!) that you won’t have to stop for a layover in a foreign country.
